Season of Mists and Mellow Fruitfulness

Sprawling Autumn is a golden swirl of falling yellow leaves and sombre nights. The beauty is one of sublime grace, a generous benediction. Crisp mornings bring along a misty golden dream, unfurled amidst carpets of crinkled leaves. The retreating flowers colour-away and fade amidst the spreading gold.

It is an apt season for me as I become more resilient and focused. Life is simple really. After all, which is the reality, which is the waking dream? The mellow gold season brings with it resignation and acceptance. Yes, it is laced with melancholia and sewn with deep, deep pain but such things are best tucked into cavernous recesses and never brought again. It is bearable in hapless Summer but Autumn demands resolve and strength of steel.

This I will give Autumn.

Sunshine - beautiful said! But I was out in the sticks of Surrey yesterday and for that matter for the rest of the two weeks - and what autumn??? Everything was like a wad of cotton wool - fog, fog fog! Itw as a relief to come back to London. and thanks for making it sound so beautiful. I am tempted not to leave my front room.

I just returned from Melbourne and it was Spring there. I never got to see any leaves change colour, but all the countryside places I've been to seem to have the same type of beautiful long grass, but more like fine straw stalks instead of blades. Making snow angels, I've done. But still on my to list is the whole ruining-someone's-freshly-raked-autumn-leaf-pile thing.

Totally agree that autumn is my favourite season, even beats the colourful flowers in spring. Managed to walk around Kew Gardens when I was there a few weeks ago, the hues were marvelous. If you like, check out the photos.

Hope you don't mind me putting the link here, I'd love to share it with everyone!

Jo: Yes, it's usually beautiful but this week has been especially awful. It's just damp fog and coldddddddd... I am straining to maintain my John Keats romanticism in this kind of weather.

KT: Agree. 'Everything was like a wad of cotton wool':agree. agree. agree. It's is now sooo miserable and cold.

Box: Yeah, I like that too-and it's okay as long as its someone else's pile and not MINE,okay.

May: Thanks for sharing the photos. I always feel that there is something reverential about falling golden leaves.

Cold?? Cuddles, Jane dearie, cuddles!! They'll warm you all the way to the heart!!

I don't think I've ever seen autumn, and I've definitely not seen snow. I hope to do both one day. :)

Blabs: You can always stay with me when you want to experience autumn/winter. But trust me-you wont want to stay too long in suchw weather. All frost and misery.

Sinus: Welcome. Can I call you that?

That's gotta be a lot better than "it's bloody cold and it's going to get colder." :)
